What are the Best Pizza Toppings in Las Vegas?

Posted on:

harris-meatball-pie“What can I find the best pizza toppings in Las Vegas?” A question that stands the test of time. Part of finding the best pizza in Las Vegas is finding a pizzeria with quality toppings. Every pizza lover likes their pie a different way, which makes deciding the universal best a bit difficult. Here are some of our favorites:

Pepperoni

It shouldn’t come as a surprise that pepperoni is at the top of our list. After all, it doesn’t get much more traditional than a pepperoni pizza. There is something about those spicy little slices of meat that is hard to resist.

Sausage

Sausage comes in a close second place. Meat lovers everywhere are in favor of this topping choice because of the variety of meats on the pizza. As we always say, the more, the merrier when it comes to flavor.

Bacon

Bacon isn’t necessarily a traditional pizza topping, but has recently become one of the most popular additions to a number of food items, pizza being one of them.  Some pizzerias even offer a “cheesy bacon pizza” option. Talk about tasty!

Pineapples

Though pineapples are a sweet addition to an otherwise savory treat, some people are hesitant due to the mushy texture of the popular island fruit.  Most notably, pineapples appear on pizzas with Canadian bacon. Yum!

Where to Find These Toppings

Now you just have one question left to answer: Where can you go to get all of these delicious pizza toppings? Lucky for you, we know a guy. Pop Up Pizza offers all of these delicious toppings and more. We are proud to top our gourmet pizzas with fresh and delicious ingredients, and we even offer vegetarian and vegan options.

With signature pizza pies like The White Chapel and the 18b, Pop Up Pizza steals the show in regards to toppings. Visit us inside the Plaza Hotel in downtown Las Vegas for pizza toppings you won’t soon forget!

Who Has the Best Pizza by the Slice in Downtown Las Vegas?

Posted on:

downtown pizza by the sliceFinding a great slice of pizza isn’t always easy. Las Vegas has a ton of good pizzerias, but not all of them will sell pizza by the slice. However, some of the best pizza in downtown Las Vegas is sold by the slice. Here’s a look at the top pizzeria selling slices of pizza in downtown Las Vegas.

Pop Up Pizza – The Best Pizza By the Slice!

Downtown-Style pizza is simply the best you will find in the Las Vegas area and Pop Up Pizza has it. Whether you prefer traditional toppings or something a little more unique, you can find it here. You can even take advantage of the “buy 9 slices, get the 10th free,” punch card.

With so many types of pizza available, you can’t go wrong with Pop Up Pizza. Getting a slice of one of the most delicious pizzas in Downtown Las Vegas will certainly make your taste-buds happy. Visit this top downtown pizzeria any day of the week from 11am to 2am for a slice or two.

Slice Vegas – A Distant Second for Pizza by the Slice

Pop Up is by far the winner for pizza by the slice in Downtown Las Vegas, but Slice Vegas is another decent choice. They serve fresh Italian pizza with plenty of good options. You will also find plenty of beverage options here and a deli counter open until 2am on Fridays and Saturdays. You can certainly grab a slice of pizza from Slice Vegas, but if you’re already downtown, why not choose the best and pick up a slice from Pop Up Pizza.

Why is a Slice of Pizza so Magnificent?

When you head to the downtown area of Las Vegas and you’ve been out partying all night, there’s nothing better than a hot, delicious slice of pizza. However, not all pizza joints are equal. You want that perfect slice of pizza because you know it’s going to make you feel better immediately and in the morning.

Downtown Las Vegas doesn’t offer a large number of late-night dining options, but Pop Up Pizza stays open until 2am to ensure you get the best pizza in downtown Las Vegas, even late at night. Whether you just hit it big at one of the casinos or you just have a late-night craving for pizza, you can always find a fresh, hot slice of pizza at Pop Up Pizza.

Is White Pizza Okay, Ever?

Posted on:

the_white_chapel-150x150The great pizza debate of the decade has been all about white pizza. Is this type of pizza ever okay or is a tomato sauce-less pizza not okay?

Of course, the answer to this question depends on which pizza lover you discuss it with. The problem with white pizza is simple: not all pizza makers can do it right. However, when done right, white pizza can be simply delicious!

What is White Pizza?

A white pizza is one made without tomato sauce and it’s typically covered with mozzarella and ricotta pizza. Sometimes, this type of pizza comes with toppings, such as clams, vegetables or Alfredo sauce. However, it doesn’t always come with topping and it can be a bit heavy sometimes.

Why has White Pizza Causes such a Debate?

The main reason for the debate over white pizza is the pizza it will always be compared to, which is red pizza. Many consider red or traditional pizza to be the perfect food. Some will go as far as to state they are, “in love” with red pizza.

The uphill battle white pizza already has when in competition with such a perfect food is the main cause for the debate. Many pizza lovers are left with the question, “Should I get a red pizza or a white pizza tonight?” This question often leads to ordering the red pizza because it’s both familiar and delicious.

What Happens When White Pizza Doesn’t Live Up?

Sometimes, the pizza maker gets it quite right and the white pizza is amazing. However, this isn’t always the case. A few common issues found with white pizza include:

  • It can be come gooey or gummy quickly
  • Some find white pizza to be boring
  • It lacks the traditional toppings
  • Many toppings put on white pizza don’t really belong on pizza, such as chicken

These are just a few of the issues found when white pizza isn’t made properly.

Can a White Pizza be Great?

Of course, the answer to this question is an astounding YES! Remember, white pizza is still pizza, and when made correctly, it can be quite delicious. Some of the best toppings to add to a white pizza include:

  • Spinach
  • Red Onion
  • Mushrooms
  • Caramelized Onion
  • Prosciutto
  • Shallots
  • Goat Cheese
  • Ricotta
  • Sage
  • Bacon
  • Artichoke
  • Clam
  • Basil
  • Tomatoes

Not all of these toppings are traditional. However, if you’re interested in trying something new, a white pizza topped with any of the above might be just what you’re after. Try the White Chapel by calling Pop Up Pizza, Las Vegas’ best downtown pizza place!

Why You Need to Be Downtown to Watch the World Cup

Posted on:

The World Cup is like Christmas morning on steroids. People have been waiting for this for years, and now it’s time to execute. You could watch from your couch and drink beer from a can, but that would be poor strategy. Here are three spectacular reasons you need to head to downtown Las Vegas for the soccer-filled festivities.

Bier Garten

They were named one of the top places to watch the World Cup, and if we could go swimming in their craft beer, we would. They serve signature wursts and have something called “The Naked City.” That’s all we need to know. And the BEST part of Bier Garten is that it’s right by Pop Up Pizza.

Pop Up

If wursts ain’t your thang–or even if they are–head on over to Pop Up Pizza, because we know you’re going to work up quite an appetite. Our signature pies are the best in downtown Vegas, and we even have vegan options. We’re open until 2am daily and when you buy nine slices, you get the tenth for free! And when it’s time to finally calm down for the night, you can make your way over to…

The Lady Silvia

When you go to The Lady Silvia, you enter the most genuine speakeasy (and basically the only speakeasy) in Las Vegas. You step into another world with their amazing decor, always top-notch music and entertainment, and delish cocktails. This is yet another downtown hotspot you don’t want to miss out on.

Hit up these three places and score a major goal during the World Cup. We can’t wait to see you! (702) 366-0049

What Your Favorite Pizza Says About You

Posted on:

There’s a name for people who don’t like pizza: Wrong. It’s not just loving pizza that tells us what kind of person you are, though; it’s the kind of pizza you choose that’ll say a whole lot about your personality. Here are six kinds of pizza and what they reveal about you. Where do you fall?

Meat Lovers’ Pizza

We like to imagine you were a jock in high school. Then you went to college and could be found smashing beer cans on your forehead in between scoring touchdowns. You were Chris Farley in Tommy Boy, when he saved his meat lovers’ pizza in the car for later. In the right temperatures, those pies can survive two or three days in your backseat.

Not that we know from experience…

Vegan

You’re a friend to the animals and the environment, and we dig it. You get down with soy cheese and roasted red bell peppers, all while reading about how factory farming is the number one cause of global warming. Namaste, you rockstar, you.

Stuffed Crust

This is “wanting your cake and eating it too” in the form of pizza. You’re all, “I don’t just want cheese ON my pizza–I want it IN my pizza too.” Luckily for you, some David Copperfield of the pizza world decided to make your day and come up with stuffed crust. You’re a greedy little one, having to have deliciously gooey cheese in every bite. You got your wish. Congratulations.

Plain Cheese

You probably also have to have all of the labels in your cabinet facing forward. It’s okay. We all have our “things.” Do you blot the grease off your slice with a napkin, too? You like it nice and simple: You’re a busy person and you don’t have time for toppings. Toppings are for children.

New York Style

You got guts. It takes a serious fire inside of you to handle a piece of pizza the size of your face. This takes commitment. This takes courage. No fork. No knife. Just you, your slice, and the food baby you’ll have afterward. We like the way you think.

Pop Up Pizza

You’re perfect in every way. The end.

Pop Up Pizza customers and food

This isn’t a matter to be taken lightly. If you’re going to eat pizza, eat the best. Pop Up Pizza in downtown Las Vegas is the top pick for pie lovers. Stop by today for a slice or 12. We’re open daily until 2am. (702) 366-0049

7 Restaurants That Are Open Late in Downtown Las Vegas

Posted on:

It’s late. You’re hungry. You need sustenance. Where do you turn? Stop at any one of these places in downtown Las Vegas and you won’t be disappointed.

7. Le Thai

You’ve heard stories about this place, and for good reasons.  It’s hailed by many as the best Thai food in Vegas.  This is the perfect place to be if you’re downtown late at night and craving pad thai, spring rolls, or curry.  Or if you have clogged sinuses.

Seriously.  The food gets spicy.  Bring Kleenex.

Their home page looks like it’s under construction, so check out some of their glowing Yelp reviews.

6. The Beat

Okay, so it’s not a “restaurant” per se; but The Beat is certainly more than a coffee shop.  They have baguette pizza and hummus and deviled eggs and french toast and alcohol and why are you not there right now???

And the ambiance.  Let’s talk about the ambiance.  They have their own zine library–aptly titled the Las Vegas Zine Library–AND vinyls.  Stop by and see for yourself.  They’re open until midnight Monday-Saturday and until 5pm on Sunday.

5. Du-Par’s Restaurant and Bakery

Du-Par’s is located in the Golden Gate Hotel & Casino and is open 24/7.  They’ve got the “Best Pancakes in America” (Esquire Magazine), the “Best Pie in Las Vegas” (Las Vegas Weekly Magazine), and they were recently named one of the Top 5 24-Hour Diners in Las Vegas.  Lauded by customers as the most genuine and authentic all-American food in Vegas, Du-Par’s made it’s first appearance back in 1938!

4. Fukuburger

Fukuburger moves around quite a bit; they’re sort of on wheels.  Okay FINE–IT’S A TRUCK.  Don’t judge.  You will never have anything like Fukuburger.  As they say on their site, they do “All-American burgers with a Japanese twist.”  And hot dogs.  And crispy chicken.  You can check the schedule on their page so you’ll know where to find them; it’s even better when you stumble upon them through fortuitous happenstance.

3. Kabob Korner

Kabob Korner is the ONLY halal restaurant in the city.  Locals and tourists alike stop here for excellent middle eastern food, friendly customer service, and the warmest, softest, pillowiest (yeah, we said it) pita bread in Sin City.  They also deliver and cater.  Kabob Korner is open 11am-11:30pm Monday-Thursday, 11am-midnight Friday-Saturday, and 1pm-10:30pm on Sunday.

2. Triple 7 Restaurant & Microbrewery

What do they serve?  An easier question is what don’t they serve.  In addition to award-winning microbrews, they’ve got hand-crafted beers, appetizers, hand-made pizza, gourmet burgers and sandwiches, steaks, ribs, AND a sushi bar.  They only close from 7am-11am.

1. Pop Up Pizza

We’ve got it all: signature pizzas (including vegan!); traditional bar food, like wings, fried pickles, and garlic knots; salads; and dessert (even more vegan!).  We’re open daily until 2am and after you buy nine slices, you get the tenth one free.  Order online, get it delivered to your door, and don’t forget to like our Facebook page for more great deals.

8 Pizza Toppings from Across the World

Posted on:

“There’s no better feeling in the world than a warm pizza box on your lap.”
– Kevin James

Some foods have origins in specific countries and never leave those borders; pizza is not one of them. Pizza defies all rules and logic. Widely considered to have been born in Italy (although it might technically be Greece), it’s a delicious staple eaten the world round.

If you think everyone eats it like we do, however, be warned: Things are about to get weird. Here are some of the most popular toppings from around the globe. Bon appetit!

8. Japan

Japan: home of miso soup and white rice. They do it like no one else does. Eel, squid, and Mayo Jaga (a combination of mayonnaise, potato, and bacon) make up their most popular pizza toppings, like this one right here!

7. Russia

If Japan didn’t already send you into a seafood coma, why not make a pitstop in Russia? Their delicious pies are topped with mockba (a mix of sardines, tuna, mackerel, salmon, and onions) and red herring. Wouldn’t you want to sink your teeth into THIS bad boy?  Fish breath—nom, nom, nom…

6. Germany

There was fish, then there was fish, and now there’s…more fish. In Germany, they top their pizza with chicken of the sea. No, not chicken–tuna. Don’t go all Jessica Simpson on us.

At least we know they’re getting their source of omega 3s.

5. Australia

G-day, mate! Down under, they get things cookin’ with emu, crocodile, and kangaroo. It definitely brings a new meaning to meat lovers’ pie.

Hey, why did the emu cross the road?

To prove he wasn’t chicken.

Get it? GET IT??? …No?

4. Brazil

Your mother always told you to eat your peas. I don’t recall her specifying that they couldn’t be on top of pizza. Hooray for loopholes! To get your veggies in, visit Brazil, where green peas have proven to be a popular topping.

3. France

Do you like eggs as much as we do? Oui! In the land of wine, literature, and other French-type things, they fry eggs sunny side up and throw them on pizza–or they’re baked right on top! You would agree that this legitimizes pizza as a breakfast food, right? Okay, good.

2. India

Pickled ginger and sheep (SHEEP!) make regular appearances on India’s pizzas. Wonder if we can order this from Domino’s…

1. US

Ranked starting with the most popular, residents of the U.S.of A. like their pies topped with pepperoni, then mushrooms, down to pineapple, and ending with spinach. Wash it down with a couple cans of Busch Light while you’re watching the game and you have all the makings of the perfect dinner. ‘MURICA.

6 Foods to Eat Before a Night of Drinking

hummus

Don’t fight the urge. Hummus is your friend. (photo by Albertas Agejevas)

1. Hummus

Don’t act like you don’t blow through tubs of Sabra hummus on a weekly basis. Did you know that it’s a natural source of Vitamin B, which you lose a lot of when you’re tanking up that third martini?

More good news? Hummus tastes good on everything. We’d lick it off the floor if we had to.

2. Eggs

Normally, eggs are the hangover meal of choice, when you’re out to breakfast with your girlfriends trying to recall the details of what may or may not have happened last night. Instead, eat them before you imbibe. Eggs contain cysteine, an amino acid that breaks down the toxins in alcohol.

And yes, that was your underwear hanging off the antenna of the car.

3. Pickles

As is, you already have no problem putting away an entire jar of Vlasic Kosher Dill Spears while you’re watching Breaking Bad. Now you have an excuse. The salt replaces electrolytes and prevents dehydration. And they go perfectly with St. Patty’s Day. Wahoo!

4. Fruit

Hear us out. The vitamins and minerals in fruit help keep your fluids balanced as well as ensure that you stay hydrated and happy. This means your belly will absorb the alcohol better. This means you won’t be hugging the toilet after that third Long Island Iced Tea. Quit complaining and go eat a strawberry.

The one that comes with your passion fruit vodka smoothie doesn’t count.

5. Falafel

It’s a fantastic source of protein and will fill you up without making you feel like you swallowed a boulder. Translation: It’s the perfect food to coat your stomach before you wet your whistle. Don’t forget to throw some of that hummus on it. Maybe even the pickles. Throw in the fruit and you probably won’t even GET drunk anymore.

6. Pizza

various pizza toppings

There’s nothing about this picture we don’t like.

Let’s face it: If you don’t eat it now, you’ll eat it later. Plus, the cheese and bread are the best ingredients to fill up on to prevent that nasty hangover. Better to enjoy a couple slices pre-booze fest instead of faceplanting in a large meat lover’s pizza at 2 a.m…although we wouldn’t exactly object to that either.

Pop Up Pizza in downtown Vegas is the best place for a pre-drink, post-drink, and no-drink meal. Order online, call in, or stop by. We deliver!

P.S. We have vegan pizza too. Even dessert. You’re welcome.
